Why “And So It Begins”?
I grew up in a household that was deeply immersed in science-fiction literature and media. Watching sci-fi movies and TV series was a family activity that I recall with fondness. Rather than being just enjoyable explorations of fantastic worlds, these stories helped me frame the complexities of large sociopolitical structures and competing agendas.
Our company name is a direct reference to the uttering of a sage and mysterious figure at a critical moment in a major story arc: it is both its own warning of what might come to pass but also a recognition of the possibilities of this rich and storied life.
Thus, I do my work under the purview of the company that my mother started many years ago, both as a way of honoring her ongoing legacy and a demonstration of my own commitment to the long process of societal change. I am building on the foundation of those in my family and across many borders who have persistently advocated for engaged community, institutional integrity, and fierce compassion.
